My Annual Review 2025 & New Year's Resolutions 2026

🧭 "Habit takes advantage of inattention."

- Benjamin Franklin

Hello Reader,

Every year, I publish an Annual Review on my personal website, as well as my New Year's Resolutions.

On New Year's Eve, I led an Annual Review Workshop, and guided participants through using my Annual Review Workbook, a Google Doc I use every year to go through the following 5 steps:

  1. Record. Collect your data, photos, and calendars.
  2. Review. Look through this data all at once.
  3. Reflect. Consider what the data means to your past, and your future.
  4. Refine. Identify changes you can make in your systems, your habits, and your lifestyle for better results.
  5. Resolve. Declare the achievements you plan for the year ahead.

Here is the TL;DR on my resolutions this year:

  • Screens Off by 8pm
  • Diligent Dashboards
  • Award Myself the Reward
  • Monthly Family Dates

I've found it more helpful, in recent years, to focus on small habits with lots of downstream effects. This works better for me than setting a resolution to achieve a goal - I resolve to commit to the activity that is most likely to lead to the goal, instead.

What are your resolutions for the new year?

If you set any resolutions, hit reply! I'd love to hear about who you are going to become.

πŸ–ŒοΈ β€œCreativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” - Scott Adams Hello Reader, It gives me no pride to say this, but when I look at the many hundreds (maybe thousands) of marketers that I know, there are three common characteristics all marketers share: they're smart they're creative and they're losers. Alex Bogusky took these photos because he learned the hard way. πŸ’‘ The Irony of Expertise Expertise is not developed from natural talent. Expertise is...

🌱 β€œIf you aren't growing into the future, you are shrinking into the past.” - David Droga Hello Reader, Have you ever heard of the Diffusion of Innovation? It's a bell-curve distribution of how technology is adopted over time. OpenClaw is not cutting-edge technology. It is bleeding-edge technology. Using it is bloody and difficult. This is what the founder of OpenClaw, Peter Steinberger, published on his blog this week: When I had both of my OpenClaw agents running on 4.29, they were...
