Black Friday Fatigue, eh?

📊 “The AI displacement of white-collar jobs is upon us. The traditional career path is dying, and AI-driven productivity is redefining what’s possible.” - Peter Diamandis

Hello Reader,

I am sure your inbox has been overflowing this past week!

As a general rule, I habitually avoid Black Friday. My years as a marketer taught me that there is so much noise on this weekend, the only way to reliably earn attention is deep discounts that attract cheap customers.

I prefer to provide lots of value and build strong relationships. But in my experience (as both a marketer and a customer) Black Friday deals cheapen relationships.

Now, I wont say that I will never offer a Black Friday deal, but this year, like most years, I sat on the sidelines. Contributing to noise, in my opinion, is not a fun way to provide value.

I've been quiet while I think about what I want to say.

Longtime subscribers may have noticed a decrease in the frequency of my newsletters and articles. Instead of publishing 1-2 per week, recently I have been publishing 1-2 per month.

This is because I am working on something new.

Something that combines my passion for AI training with my expertise in online learning and virtual events.

I plan to use my upcoming articles as a testing ground, to share some of my new ideas for my new venture.

It’s called the AI Coaching Academy. I am launching it in beta this coming January, with a free weekly AI Coaching Power Hour.

💡 AI Coaching Power Hour

This interactive Zoom session is designed to give you one hour of focused reflection, a gentle push forward, and a supportive community to help you grow.

Whether you're navigating a challenge, shaping a goal, or simply wanting a structured space to think out loud — you’ll leave feeling lighter, clearer, and ready to take your next step.

AGENDA

  • 15 min - we talk to each other, on Zoom
  • 15 min - we talk to an AI coach, individually
  • 10 min - we come back together and debrief
  • 10 min - breakout room 1:1s
  • 5 min - weekly commitments
  • 5 min - show & tell, open Q&A

These 4 x weekly Ai Coaching Power Hours are drop in, on Mondays at 3pm NZ time for the month of January (which is Sundays at 6pm Pacific time, for my American friends).

No experience with AI needed. No pressure to share more than you want. No need to attend all 4. Just bring yourself, an open mind, and something you’re working on that you'd like to improve. I will teach you how to use AI to help you succeed.

4 Mondays in January 3-4pm NZ time // Sundays 6-7pm Pacific time

Drop-in to any session, or all 4. No cost to attend.

🖌️ “Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” - Scott Adams Hello Reader, It gives me no pride to say this, but when I look at the many hundreds (maybe thousands) of marketers that I know, there are three common characteristics all marketers share: they're smart they're creative and they're losers. Alex Bogusky took these photos because he learned the hard way. 💡 The Irony of Expertise Expertise is not developed from natural talent. Expertise is...

🌱 “If you aren't growing into the future, you are shrinking into the past.” - David Droga Hello Reader, Have you ever heard of the Diffusion of Innovation? It's a bell-curve distribution of how technology is adopted over time. OpenClaw is not cutting-edge technology. It is bleeding-edge technology. Using it is bloody and difficult. This is what the founder of OpenClaw, Peter Steinberger, published on his blog this week: When I had both of my OpenClaw agents running on 4.29, they were...
